Hey! Thanks for stopping by!  *hi-fives all around*

My name is Patrick.  My wife and I have been married for six years.  We
love car camping all over the Cascades and the Olympics, as well as more
serious international adventures. Ask me about the trip where we hiked through
the Slovenian, Austrian, German, back into the Austrian, and then the Italian
Alps.  Or, the time I played bumper cars on a hairpin corner with a man in
the Albanian mafia and got chased across the border into Macedonia!  Anne still hasn't
forgiven me for that one.

That said, you should probably know that I like to have fun, I work hard and
I'm willing to take risks.  I believe that being a wedding photographer is
not for the faint of heart.  During my days as a freelance travel photographer/writer,
I learned that the best images don't just happen because you've bought a plane
ticket.  In over 30 countries, I found that the most compelling images
come from getting inside the life of a person or falling in love with a place.  My most cherished picture
of you is likely to come after we've had a beer, and your cousin has shared a
funny story about when you were little.

Thank you for looking, and don't be afraid to leave a comment.

La Dolce Vita – Italy, July 2010

*Lots of people have asked me if they could buy pictures.  Pictures are now for sale here.*

Piazzas, gelato, pasta, heat, churches, wine, and soccer.  Anne and I experienced large quantities of those things and much more as we traveled around Italy’s mid-section.  On a side note: it was hot.  Too hot.  For instance, one day it was almost 110 degrees!  When we left Seattle, it had not yet reached 75 degrees in well over 7 months!

Tatoosh Mountains/Mt. Rainier Hiking

There is a popular reflection pond in the Tatoosh mountains that photographers have been visiting for years.  Personally, I’ve hiked to it many times, but have only been able to shoot pictures twice.  Once, it was still covered in snow (in late July), another time, the clouds were so thick I couldn’t see anything but gray.  This year, was a good year.  BTW, one of my pictures from the Olymplic National Park is published in this months issue of Backpacker Magazine.

Brian, an awesome photographer for Photo Elan also came.  He blogged about it here.

Amanda Richelle - LOVE! Truly great outdoor photography evokes emotional response, and I'm feelin' it!February 22, 2010 - 1:00 am

Lake House with Friends and Family

Just had a restful and wonderful weekend with my brother Gary and his family, and my friend Mike and his family.  On Friday night, Gary and I went to see Damien Jurado at the Crocodile, which was perfect in every way.  Saturday and Sunday were spent at Mike’s lake house.  We did a few pictures out on the dock at sunset.  It was one of those weekends that you wish would never end.  Good food, good times, good people.

The Bagleys come visit!

My best-friend-ever/old-college-roommate Nate, his lovely wife Jodie and their new daughter Tessa came to visit Anne and I for the weekend!_dsc3060

This picture reminds me of a shock that we go through psychologically as we go from the womb where all of our needs are perfectly met, to the outside world where life just aint that easy.

Nate owns a handmade leather goods company called Talitha Leather.  He makes lots of things, but I have to say that my favorites are his all-leather messenger bags!  By the way, one of these would make a great gift for a brand new husband or wife!  I did some product shots of a few of his other items.
